Brewing Method: Extract
Yeast: Wy 2007, 2124, or 2112
Yeast Starter: Yes
Batch Size: 23 litres (5 Imp)
Original Gravity: 1.045
Final Gravity: 1.011
Alcohol Content: 4.4 abv %
Total Grains:
Color: 32
Extract Efficiency: %
Hop IBU's: 56
Boiling Time: 60 mins
Primary Fermentation: 1 week
Secondary Fermentation: 2 wks
Additional Fermentation: Lager if possible

Grain Bill:

3.5 kg light malt extract
4 oz black patent
16 oz dark crystal malt

Hop Bill:

2 oz Bullion - 60 mins
1 oz Saaz - last 15 mins
1 oz Saaz - last 2 mins

Mash Schedule:

Steep grains in 1-2 gals water for 30 mins @ 150F. Don't boil. Discard grains. Add water for a full wort boil if possible (approx 27.6 litres).
Add malt extract once water is hot. Stir when adding extract or else! Boil for 60 mins adding hops as indicated. Try to find Bullion !!

Brewers Notes:

This recipe comes from the creator of Brew Bros Black Pilsner microbrewed here in Alberta (Thanks, Cal!!) It's pretty yummy stuff and good year round. Drink at about 42F or colder in summer. It's quite "smokey" and excellent with eg roast beef.
